When the Dead Knock

Last night was Season 3, Episode 2 When the Dead Knock.

Party

  • Sean Ward is Skord the Spear, a fighter

  • Alex Burtolucci is Armond, a fighter

  • Joe D (the lawyer) is Kojak, a dwarf

The session began with the party finding their bearings within Hounds Head. Returning after a strange trip into ruins that proved to be more mentally taxing than profitable. Kojak did not hesitate to take what loot he'd found and exchange them for silver and had two items identified.

Ring of Protection

Armond found this strange ring a few months ago. Put in his pocket, to identify later. Blake at Hounds Head told them It was a Ring of Protection. It provided the wearer with a +2 to armor class and +2 to all save. A valuable find indeed. Kojak asked Armond if he could have the ring when he died and did a poor job hiding the glint in his eye.

Scroll of Spells

The parchment has a golden hue that sparks and flares with magical energy. The words move and transform. This scroll randomly generates d6 random spells of random levels. To copy a spell from this scroll requires an Intelligence ability roll with a TN of 20. If a spell is cast directly from the scroll it goes dark for one day then starts randomly generating spells again. It is a HIGHLY sought after artifact.

Checking in on the House

The party checked on the house they have under construction. They were given a land grant of 20 acres. The built their homes just outside of Hounds Head. As of this time I'm not sure if it's a house, tavern, mill, or brothel.

Carousing Time

They discussed what to do next. Time to go to the Angry Priest and carouse for rumors. And so they did. With 34 silver hitting the bar the rumors began. Together they head two rumors worth looking into. I had them roll 2d6 and add their Charisma bonus. And they received a bonus based on the amount they spent on drinks.

Goblin Fortification

Kojak heard another adventuring party spotting 'goblin-like' creatures in a known Northman village ruins. Armond heard more details. The goblins were fortifying the area. There were two platform towers with mounted crossbows. The stockade was already in place. No one knew why the goblins were there.

Dwarven Mines in the Big F'n Mountain

Skord made quick friends with a chatty dwarf who pointed to the north and told him about a series of abandon mines in the mountains. He thumped his drunk finger in the middle of the table, and there, the big fucking mountain has gold in its heart. Clear it out and I'll mine it.

The Well Hung Man

The party dispersed for the night. Armond stayed at the tavern getting some humpy time with the owner. Kojack and Skord returned to their partially built house. They awoke to the sound of thudding against one of their beams. Hung from one of the beams was a young man. A stranger. In his pocket was a crumpled piece of paper, Kojak identified it as the paper that Sir Santore's insignia ring was wrapped in. Scrawled on the paper was, "Some things are best left alone." He was confused, they had hidden the ring. After more investigation they discovered the boy must have been hired by Sir Santore and used a spell to find his ring. Then killed as a warning.

Abandon Formhouse

Courses of action were debated. Pros and cons were considered until they settled upon investigating the goblins spotted in the Northman village. What were those goblins doing? They set off the next day, a rare good weather day. When they approached the outer walls on an abandon farmhouse. Armond knew it well. He lost his first dog there. From inside the walls they heard noises and set about investigating.

The session ended there. Each character earning 200xp and their showing up bonus.
